Is it my job to create peace in the world? Or, rather, is that task done, always, by natural Forces? The Sun shines, Nature continues, the world turns, yet, as life unfolds, have I identified what I truly want? What is unique and real for me?
Have you determined what You Want to express or be? You desire to see tranquility in the world let’s say, but are you calm now? Can you simply be the peace you want to see in the world and leave the rest to Nature?
Ripples
Am I determined to make something happen when I feel ill at ease about the world? Then, while I act from a state of unrest, my creation carries with it disquiet as it ripples within this circle. I can no more bring peace into the world while being agitated or judgemental—or ask others to pass judgement on some rascal with me—than I can put out a fire with more fire.
Forgive My Past
As I have acted with anxiety in the past, I must forgive myself my disquietude in order to understand it in others. I can then walk freely in peace when I observe others choose distress over something they’ve focused upon. While I perceive the discomfort in others, I can see through their choice, and therefore perceive the face of the peaceful One under their costumes.
I won’t be reactive, nor think I need to change them in order for me to feel composure. I can, even if being chastised, express what I have cultivated—peace. This is the same as being what the world most needs, the Love that is forever.
No matter another’s expression, I can more readily seek the guidance of my internal Sage when I am tranquil. This One will advise me what to say or do in any situation. “What is appropriate now,” I may ask, and the answer will be, “You exist to express peace.”
Peace is the same as Love that takes on the uniqueness of your individual persona as it expresses through your personal self. It is never separate; it is always connected. There is nothing you need to become, other than be aware of the blend of you and Love as you live your life each moment.
“Love is a medicine for the sickness of the world; a prescription often given, too rarely taken.” —Karl Menninger, MD, www.menningerclinic.com
“To a frog that’s never left his pond the ocean seems like a gamble. Look what he’s giving up: security, mastery of his world, recognition! The ocean frog just shakes his head. ‘I can’t really explain what it’s like where I live, but someday I’ll take you there.’” —Rumi (The Essential Rumi, Coleman Barks, tr, 1997, Castle Books ed, p 193)
A Departure from Toxicity
To be peace is to be whole in body and mind. It is to honor your Father, Mother, the Earth, and all of life. The following may seem unrelated, yet, everything that occurs on this plane creates ripples in the pond:
Farmers in India have discovered that common colas, like Coke and Pepsi, can be sprayed on crops and function as an effective and affordable pesticide. Although the Coca-Cola corporation says this is impossible, literally hundreds of farmers now claim the soft drinks kill the bugs on their cotton plants as well as any other pesticide. http://www.organicconsumers.org/toxic/pop.cfm
One must take care with what one drinks, eats, or thinks, the latter being the most powerful. All the body’s cells are listening to each thought. The water molecules throughout the anatomy are expressing beautiful symmetry or not depending upon the quietude of the mind and heart. These can be affected by food choices as well.
“It takes discipline to choose foods wisely, selecting those that are close to nature, or as little processed by human hands as possible. “Inquiry into the dietary history of patients diagnosed [with severe mental/emotional health disorders] reveals the diet of their choice is rich in sweets, candy, cakes, coffee, caffeinated beverages, and foods prepared with sugar. These foods, which stimulate the adrenals, should be eliminated or severely restricted.” —A Cott in Orthomolecular Approach to the Treatment of Learning Disorders
Dear Self: Be wise as a serpent, gentle as a dove; be well, be whole, be peace! ∆
